Base five, also known as the quinary system, is a number system that uses only five numerical digits (0, 1, 2, 3, and 4) unlike the commonly used decimal system which includes 10 numerical digits (0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9).


To find the base five equivalent of a number, you can repeatedly divide by 5 and on every step, use the remainder to write the number in the base five form. For example, to find the base five equivalent of 69, you can do the following:


Division by 5QuotientRemainder
69/5=13134
13/5=223
2/5=022
Therefore, the number 69 in base ten is written as 234 in base five.
